We at Knowledgent are committed to giving back to the communities in which we live and work. That’s why, as part of Knowledgent Cares, our employee volunteer program, we focused the month of November on supporting local food banks.
Informationists from the New Jersey and Boston offices donated over 20 bags of cold-weather, non-perishable food items to local food banks.
The New Jersey office donated to the Food Bank Network of Somerset County, a not-for-profit organization with three food pantries, located in Somerville, Bound Brook, and North Plainfield, and a warehouse in Bridgewater, New Jersey. Their mission is to distribute food and to provide other basic human needs to those less fortunate in the community in a manner which recognizes and advances self-worth and human dignity. The Boston office donated to the Greater Food Bank of Boston, the largest hunger-relief organization in New England. Their objective is to distribute enough food to provide at least one meal a day to those in need.
With the winter months coming, food banks are especially in need of the following items:
- Parmalat (Shelf-Stable) Milk
- Hot and Cold Cereal
- Canned Soups
- Canned Yams
- Instant Mashed Potatoes
- Pancake Mix and Syrup
- Hot Chocolate Mix (Packets)
- Pasta Sauce (Plastic Containers)
- Peanut Butter
- Proteins (tuna, chicken, salmon, sardines, ham, Vienna sausages—preferably in pop-top cans or packets)
- Granola/Breakfast Bars
- Juice Boxes
- Dried Fruit
- Personal Hygiene Products
