Knowledgent Cares Hosts Annual Holiday Food Drive to Give Back for the Holidays

The holiday season is upon us, and that means one thing – Knowledgent Cares’ annual holiday food drive! Each year, Informationists from across the firm come together to donate food to local communities in need. This year, we raised $3,550 for food and donated “Thanksgiving bags” to the students at the Mount Carmel Guild Academy in West Orange, New Jersey!

This is our fourth year hosting the food drive, and with the money Knowledgent Cares raised, Thanksgiving bags of food were put together for about 100 students to bring home at the Mount Carmel Guild Academy in West Orange.

The Mount Carmel Guild Academy is a private, non-profit, co-educational school offering a comprehensive program for learning and behaviorally disabled children in grades Pre-K through 12. The school, which is run through Catholic Charities, has around 100 students – students who are extremely underprivileged from the neighboring areas.

During the Thanksgiving holiday, the staff – at their own expense – provides food baskets to the most underprivileged families, offering the baskets through a “lottery” system, since the expense to provide baskets to all students is too great for the teachers to undertake themselves. Knowledgent Cares’ goal was to provide enough donations to make sure each student at the school had a basket to take home for the holiday – and that goal was achieved.

“This was a wonderful experience,” said Informationist Kristen Ogilvie, who coordinated the drive. “Seeing the look on the students’ faces when they got their bag full of food is something I will never forget. I’m so fortunate that we were able to give back to these families and help make their holidays special.”

Knowledgent Cares would like to extend a big thank you to Tammy at ShopRite for coordination and delivery of the food as well as Tina at EmbroidMe for donating the bags to the students.

“Tammy and Tina helped make this food drive a huge success,” said Kristen. “We are incredibly grateful for their help and generosity.”

In this season of gratitude, we are thankful to be able to help provide meals to those in need and are already looking forward to next year’s food drive!
