Accelerating Patient-Centric Analytics with Unified Patient Records

Healthcare providers are facing an increasingly complex operational landscape. To remain competitive, they need to leverage the data at their disposal to improve patient outcomes, reduce readmissions, and provide high quality standards of care – all while controlling costs.

At Knowledgent, we’re helping our clients achieve this aim through groundbreaking projects that involve generating Unified Patient Records (UPRs) to facilitate analytics and promote a more individualized view of the patient. The creation of UPRs is necessary because good database design requires normalized data. In database parlance, this means that different kinds of information are stored in different tables so repetition is avoided and records cannot become contradictory. House of Data: How the Segment of One is Disrupting the Media Industry

The media industry is in the midst of wholesale change, with cloud and mobile driving new viewing habits, partnerships and, increasingly, richer viewership data.  Cloud- and mobile-based technologies have given unparalleled flexibility to content consumers – be it via purchases, rentals, VOD, OTT or streaming.

The disruption and intermediation wrought onto the industry is a threat to some players, as witnessed by cord-cutters disrupting the ability of a Multiple-System Operator (MSO) to drive a bundled package of content.  Some in the industry have responded by rolling out a Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) model.  Knowledgent believes the industry will need to accelerate its D2C adaption and create a more targeted approach to connect with viewers – especially as more “content creators” bypass traditional distribution networks and more “non-traditional” distributors enter the “original content” space.  As the entry barrier continues to be eroded, big data, and its ability to create the Segment of One, is revolutionizing how content is created and delivered. Applying the Segment of One to Personalized Medicine

While most applications of the Segment of One are unashamedly about sales and revenue, personalized medicine is a use case in life sciences and healthcare that’s focused on a higher purpose: improving and saving lives. And it applies to everyone. Anyone that has been frustrated with an adverse or ineffective reaction to medication is well aware that the “one size fits all” traditional healthcare treatment model where the same diagnosis means receiving the same treatment is an extremely inexact process leading to much trial and error.  Continue reading Applying the Segment of One to Personalized Medicine

Tekathon: Tamr Review

Editor’s Note: This week, we’re recapping our first Tekathon, an immersive education session bringing together Knowledgent Informationists and Big Data MDM vendors to discuss real-world use cases. This post by Gaurav Suri, MDM Informationist at Knowledgent, discusses key benefits and features of Tamr solutions.

In the age of big data, companies are now forced to rethink traditional MDM methods. Enterprises across all industries are facing an explosion of data flooding into their environments. Business activities such as mergers and acquisitions compound this problem, as organizations are forced to deal with new IT infrastructures and data that they’ve never touched. This has exposed limitations in traditional MDM products, including 1) speed and scalability of integrating data sources and 2) challenges with quickly implementing matching rules. When you think of Reltio, think of a data-driven application where the goal is to find information quickly like you do in Google. Think about how to operate and get answers to your questions. You want to be scalable. Reltio’s way of thinking is that enterprises should have the same thinking on the business side as the thinking that is going on in the applications being used. Reltio delivers the inexhaustible capability that is part of the traditional MDM experience in a next-generation platform to drive business development and enterprise customer management over the next 15 years. As Informationists from Knowledgent, we find ways for our clients to eliminate boundaries of business needs and information silos and have them focus on outcomes. Increasingly, exploration and innovation are demanding more from information assets. Data gurus are being presented with messy data infrastructures that hide information of muddy quality. Value is locked in unstructured data assets, leading to misinterpretations of the content and context data. We need a way to find value in our data from variety of formats within our information ecosystem.  Our clients look for reduced effort to extract, consolidate, and clean data to produce reports.
